She says she is “95% certain it’s not a scam”.
In an interview with TV host and author Phil McGraw on his show Dr. Phil, the woman, Sarah, said she met the man, who calls himself Chris Olsen, 18 months ago.
internet scam,

During that time, Sarah wired large sums of her inheritance to Olsen, who told her he was currently based in Africa. She said: “He told me early on that he was a widower and that he had two daughters, and he was on a business trip in South Africa.”

Sarah, who has been divorced twice, said she was in love with Olsen and was “95% certain it’s not a scam”.
Olsen told her he has been prevented from coming home because he keeps being arrested on false charges. “He’s from Milan, Italy, and moved to the United States about 18 years ago,” Sarah said. “He’s very poetic when he talks to me.”

But the relationship set off alarm bells for her cousin Crystal, who told Dr Phil she believes Sarah is being conned.

Crystal said: “If Sarah continues sending ‘Chris’ money, she’s going to have nothing left.”

According to McGraw’s website, he has been in contact with the embassies of the numerous countries Olsen has claimed to have lived in and has spoken with the FBI about the risk of online scams. Viewers are also trying to track down the man for an upcoming episode. Watch the video below...

It usually begins with the best of intentions.

Author sits down to work, she thinks perhaps she should check her work email quickly. She then remembers a friend’s birthday and wants to send them a message on Facebook. Then she figures she might as well log onto Twitter and check if she missed any notifications - just for 3 minutes.

Suddenly she realizes that 45 minutes have gone by and she’s sitting comfortable and reading comments on facebook on a viral post by Men’s Humor.
focus, humor, procrastinate, productive
While the internet can be a great source for research and work, it is also an amazing trigger to procrastinate – when you seriously need to buckle down and be productive.

I realize some people are addicted to gambling, others are addicted to drugs, women, fast cars or pranking black people ‘in the hood’ for viral youtube videos. My choice of drug begins with WWW.

I stumbled upon an old article on Simply Zesty that got me a little worried particularly after reading this frightening paragraph:

Technology addictions can lead to increased stress-levels, shorter attention spans (especially in kids), irregular sleep-patterns and poor sleep, to name but a few.

Most worryingly, nobody has done research into the long-term effects of dopamine on the human brain in the age of Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. Rats were investigated in the 60s and again in the 90s, but not so much humans. Simply put, there might be long-term side-effects to dopamine ‘addiction’ that we simply don’t know about yet.

As a productive human being, you need all of the concentration you can get. If you’re not completely focused, you’re not giving the best of you.

So how do you turn off the distractions and stay focused?

At first you will feel lost, but soon you will appreciate how much you will achieve if you follow these tips:

1. Turn off your phone
Yes, turn it off. Don’t set it on vibrate, don’t just lower the volume, shut it down completely. Keep it far away from you so you’re not tempted to turn it back on. You’d be surprised how much good this can do you.

2. Turn off your Internet
I’m guilty of losing focus. I have times where I feel so frustrated, I log on to twitter just to see how many retweets I’ve received that day. But doing this is just the beginning of letting yourself be sucked into the hole that is the Wide World Web.

3. Many workers need to use the internet to get things done, whether the resource in question be Wikipedia or Google, and those pesky social networks are always just a tab away. Currently there are quite a number of softwares/apps available that can help you find a Zen-like focus, instead of pushing you further into distraction. One such software is known as Freedom (for both Mac and Windows).

Just don’t sabotage yourself by blocking social sites from one browser and then launching another browser to get your Facebook fix.

What’s your addiction? Do you have a hard time staying focused? What do you do to keep your concentration? Share in the comments!

According to a USA Today report, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s breathing tube has been removed. Her condition, however, is unchanged.

A source close to the situation told the publication that removing Brown from the ventilator does not necessarily mean a decision has been made to take her off of life support.

Brown has been hospitalized since Jan. 31 when her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, and a friend, found her unresponsive in a bathtub in her Georgia home.

This is a “normal” procedure, done after a certain amount of time to prevent infections, says the family source.
According to Dr. Jordan Josephson, an ENT specialist at Lennox Hill Hospital, the tracheotomy procedure is typically done when people are expected to be on a ventilator for more than a couple of days.

It is done to protect the vocal cords and to afford better access to keep the lungs clear of fluid.

“If the expectation is she’s going to be on for weeks, months – who knows how long, the best way to deliver oxygen to the lungs is through the tracheostomy” (the hole left in the throat after the tracheotomy procedure is performed).

Josephson says, “It’s a protective measure. There may be a slight scar, but in most cases that’s it.” He adds that it will not leave Brown with voice problems, “She absolutely will be able to speak.”

I’ll keep you updated with the latest.

What does financial freedom mean to you?
Does it mean buying anything you want regardless of how much it cost?
Does it mean spending your days in ways that enrich and empower you instead of being at the beck and call of an employer?

Is there anyone in the world who wouldn't agree that the dream to be financially free is a universally desired goal?

But how does one create and maintain this sought after state of financial freedom.

Surely, it is not by working hard at a job. We've all heard the grim statistics of people working hard, only to end up old and very poor.

Having a job is not a secure method to achieve your desire to be financially free!
Many employees, from clerks to CEO's have found themselves unceremoniously dumped from jobs they thought were secure.
Even employees who are lucky enough or maybe foolish to hang on into retirement, working for someone else, are finding that the pension that they counted on is insufficient to cover their hoped for and deserved life of ease.

Taking an informed, involved and hands on role in your finances is the only way to be financially free.
No one else can be as passionate about your financial goals, dreams and desires as you are.
Others may or may not share your commitment to achieve your financial independence, however, that does not reduce your responsibility to make every attempt to achieve it.
Very often, when I talk to family and friends about money and how freeing it is to have enough to live a self-directed life, there is always one person who will say, "money is not that important" or "money can't buy happiness".
Of course it's true that money cannot buy happiness, nothing can, for happiness is a state of mind that you choose for yourself, regardless of circumstances or the attitudes of others.
And money IS important for the things that money CAN do, such as good schools for your children, spending your time how you choose, supporting charities and so much more.

So, how do you achieve financial freedom?
Acknowledge and accept that whatever financial state you are in presently is a result of the actions you have taken up to that point in your life.
Then decide that you want to create a brighter, more secure financial future for yourself and those who depend on you.

Do an in-depth financial analysis beginning with your credit rating.
If your rating is not a good one or you don't yet have a credit history, begin the process of restoring or establish one.
Excellent or even just good credit will be your solid foundation on which you will build your financial freedom.
After addressing your credit score the next step will be to learn about wealth creation tools and strategies.
Get help with this step by leveraging the knowledge of a trusted team of financial planners.
Enjoying a life of financial freedom need not remain just a distant dream.
Get passionate about your desire to build wealth, make a new plan and take well-advised actions.

Create a new plan and achieve your goals.

I hope this article gives you that little extra push you needed to get you started.

Introducing Robinhood, a brokerage that allows everyday investors to pay $0 commission on trades, similar to high frequency traders and electronic trading firms. They’ve built an automated, electronic brokerage from the ground up that helps eliminate the costly touchpoints where other brokerages require human intervention or paper receipts. Oh, and they don’t have a minimum account balance for cash accounts. Support for margin and options trading is coming while they’re giving API access to select partners, which will allow devs to build applications in conjunction with Robinhood. In terms of security, everything is encrypted and the brokerage is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). Google has shed some light on one of their latest endeavors and this one looks to help the one in every 19 people in this world that has diabetes. Uncontrolled blood sugar puts people at risk for a range of dangerous complications, some short-term and others longer term, including damage to the eyes, kidneys and heart. Not only do you have to keep your sugar levels under control but the process to monitor your glucose level is disruptive and painful.

Google is now testing a smart contact lens that’s built to measure glucose levels in tears using a tiny wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor that are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material. They’re testing prototypes that can generate a reading once per second and even looking into integrating tiny LED lights that could light up to indicate that glucose levels have crossed above or below certain thresholds.

Multiple clinical research studies have been completed so this smart contact lens is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality. Talks with the FDA are ongoing and they’re exploring partners that can leverage this technology for a smart contact lens and develop apps that would make the measurements available to the wearer and their doctor.

With this year’s SIHH just weeks away, IWC is getting ahead of the wave by updating its Portuguese family of watches with this the Portuguese Yacht Club Chono. It’s powered by the same self-winding in-house movement from previous iterations while other details include the chrono’s flyback function and 68-hour power reserve. There’s also a unique chronograph display that uses one dial to indicate both elapsed hours and minutes. One of the biggest changes comes from IWC taking note of comments from potential buyers who wanted a slightly smaller version of the sportiest watch in the Portuguese lineup. The case diameter drops here just a bit from 45.4 to 43.5 mm. The original Portugieser came out in 1939, so it’s only right we see this unveil on its 75th anniversary. The IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chrono comes with a black rubber strap and buckle that matches the case material. Look for it to release in the weeks ahead.
Though we’ve seen plenty of private data storage apps crop up, Keeply has done a great job of impressing still. The app allows you to protect your private files, photos, notes and passwords through an easy-to-use interface that doesn’t let anything be saved off the cloud. Where an app like 1Password focuses primarily on saving website passwords, Keeply’s the one-stop shop for everything from credit card numbers to private notes, pins, and photos. And it doesn’t hurt that the design of the app is just downright beautiful. One of our favorite features is Keeply’s ability to snap a photo of anyone who unsuccessfully tries to access your data. The fake pin feature lets you put in a second bogus pin that will open the app with no information. Best of all, Keeply is free and available now through the app store.
Is this real? Yep. Introducing the Blackberry Classic smartphone, a return to the days pre-iPhone and Android. Beyond getting BBM again, you’ll also have the ability to install Android and Blackberry apps on this device. Good play, Blackberry, good play. The Blackberry Classic is available unlocked through BlackBerry and Amazon’s online stores for $449. Local carriers worldwide have already picked up the device while Verizon and AT&T are confirmed to be jumping on board in 2015.

What is your attitude towards having wealth? Do you believe it is possible to have anything that you want? Or do you believe that wealth and prosperity are reserved only for those other "lucky" people in this world? Okay, please pay attention to this:

There Is No Such Thing As Luck

Take a good look at what you have today; look at how much money you have, your possessions, and your investments if you have any. Are you satisfied, or are you just going through the motions, and settling for second best? Look around at everything you have right now, and then look in the mirror. Because....

Everything you have right now, YOU have created.
Now, this might be a totally foreign concept to you; if so, I want you to open your mind and consider what I have just told you. Maybe it will be a hard thing to accept at first, but once you do, you will unleash an invincible force within you. When we're not getting what we truly desire, it's much easier to blame outside forces than to look inside ourselves..but by blaming others, we give away our power! The honest truth is that what you put your attention on expands.

Do these sound familiar?
  • The rich get richer and the poor get poorer
  • There's never enough to go around
  • I can't afford that
  • Our family has always been poor - it's in our blood
  • Money is hard to come by
  • That's the way it's always been
You will always get what you think you deserve. Have you heard stories about people who rise from a life of misery and poverty and win enormous sums of money on the lottery, only to become flat broke again after a couple of years? At the end of the day, It all comes down to attitude.

What is your attitude towards wealth and prosperity? Do you believe that it has never been in easy reach? Write down your beliefs. Doing this will help you to find what parts of your subconscious mind are stopping you from achieving success and living the life of your dreams. Make a commitment to change your beliefs; it's all up to you. If you want to be wealthy, you need to leave behind your old attitude and develop a new way of thinking. Open your heart and be willing to receive prosperity and abundance, and it will be yours!
For Starters
When asked to name an effective way of obtaining wealth, a common answer is: "Invest". What is the problem with this answer? Well, the majority of respondents have very little or no money in their savings account. I see the beginning of wealth building in a different light. A saying that almost everyone knows but nearly no one applies is: "A penny saved is a penny earned". In today's culture it is definitely much easier to spend money than it is to save it. The average American is exposed to 247 advertisements in one day! Less than 5% of Americans have at least $3000 in savings and no debt. It is no wonder that most consumers struggle with saving money or grasping the concept of building wealth. We are mentally flogged with television and radio commercials, newspaper and magazine ads, billboards, signs, posters and even conversations. Whatever the method, it all serves one main purpose - to take your money and make it theirs.

Unveiling the Mystery
So with all those statistics and all that advertising, how in the world is it possible to build wealth? Well consider yourself ahead of the game already. By reading this article you are opening your mind to ideas and concepts which could help you to begin the process which is more than can be said for most people out there. A house starts with a single brick and the same is true with wealth building. You have to start with what you can and keep adding to it.
Why not jump in to stocks, mutual funds or other investments right off the bat? Life will continue to happen whether you plan for it or not. So plan for it. You must start with a lump sum of money in your savings account which has been referred to as an "emergency savings". A good figure for this is $1000. You MUST pay your savings first, before anything else. If you do not, your savings will not grow (or it may not happen at all). This extra money will act as a soft landing for any financial falls that can and will occur while you pay down other debts that are road blocking your way to building wealth. You must realize though; this money is first priority but can not be touched - ONLY for emergencies. By following these 2 steps:
  • Stocking up your savings with $1,000 and then
  • Eliminating extra debts (with great fervor), you will prepare yourself for a much easier road to building wealth.
Making it Happen
You have to take action now or this whole savings thing will not happen. First, get a savings account. If you have one, find out what the interest rate is. Many have something like 0.25% to 1% (WHOOPEE!). Remember that you are not trying to make all your money in interest right now but since the money is going to sit you may as well look around. It is possible to land up to a 3-5% interest rate. Another option is a money market account to get a good rate although restrictions sometimes apply for things like early withdrawal fees and keeping a minimum amount in the account at all times. Secondly, as I stated earlier, take your savings off the top on payday. You have to make a painful change as well though. You may have to sacrifice some things to get that initial $1,000. This could mean no eating out or temporarily cutting out an expensive hobby. You also might want to try changing your phone company or downgrading your cable package. I hate this next idea but it is for a good cause: Drop your credit card payments below the minimum (JUST FOR NOW). Anyway, you get the idea. Cut some here - cut some there. Now, take all the figures you cut and add them together. This is what you will put in to your savings account until you reach $1,000. See, when the average person feels like they are getting ahead or even staying even, a setback occurs and sends everything spiraling downward. This is the hard part of building wealth and it is just the beginning (the first brick). However, without this extra money in savings you will tread water until you eventually drown, so stop thinking about it and start acting on it today.

If you’ve got a question that needs the female treatment, chances are you’re not the only one who wants to ask it. Here's one such example...

Hi Author,

I just turned 44 a few days ago, and have worked hard over the last year to lose 40 pounds. Along with remaking my body, I decided that I was tired of being clean shaven, and started to wear a little bit of facial hair. Think Orlando Bloom in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. A thinner mustache, a bit of chin hair, and that’s it.

I’m currently single and ready to date, but I’m not sure if facial hair will be a turn off? Especially something that’s a bit more purposeful & groomed like this, instead of just scruff?

I’ve been told I actually look OLDER without a beard. But maybe that’s because I’ve gone to the trouble of coloring my facial hair, since my beard has started to come in gray. Yet the hair on the top of my head has stayed youthful looking.

Is this going to be a deal breaker for any potential dates?

- Henry

Hi Henry,

Congrats on losing weight and remaking your look. Way to take a bit of a risk with the facial hair–nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Facial hair is not an automatic turn off, not at all. Women like it, or they don’t, but there’s no rule for all women everywhere. We’re a varied bunch. Most women would say they like facial hair when it looks good. Real helpful, right?

Facial hair is like man-cardigans, bow ties, and suspenders–they flatter and look at home on some people, and on others, not so much. And yes, there are instances when men look better with facial hair. If you have a weak chin, or a bit of flab around the jawline, facial hair can mask it, or give your face the appearance of stronger structure. And some faces just look better with hair. I’ve always thought Javier Bardem looked much handsomer with facial hair than without it.

On the other hand, facial hair can make you look less attractive if it grows in patchy and uneven. It can make you look unkempt if it’s not meticulously groomed. And for some men, it just doesn’t look great with their bone structure, or it hides their good features. Casey Affleck, for instance, has a beard that grows in too patchy; it makes him look kind of skeevy. Brad Pitt is also not best served with facial hair mainly because, if you’ve got that face, why hide it under hair?

Then there are the bastards who look good, facial hair or not, and can go from swarthy to clean-shaven back to hirsute, and collect a barrage of compliments along the way. George Clooney. That man. Full grey beard, little bit o’ scruff, smooth as a baby’s bottom. He looks good every which way.

Because you and I have never had the pleasure of meeting, I can’t tell you which camp you fall into, but it sounds like you’ve gotten feedback (from more than one person? On separate occasions?) that you look great with facial hair. Sounds promising. Keep it for awhile and see what it does for your dating life. The good thing about hair is you can always shave it off, and then grow it back again. Don’t worry that being purposeful with your grooming is a bad thing, it’s not. Yes, sometimes casual scruff is sexy (George!)…but sometimes it’s reminiscent of Ethan Hawke, circa 1994. I mean, Reality Bites is a classic, but that anemic tufting has to go.

Got something brewing in your life?

We've all been there. Staring at Pinterest with a glass of wine, browsing aimlessly through photos of models, bloggers, and celebrities. Subconsciously adding pin after pin to that "Trends I Wish I Could Pull Off" board. Let me guess: You were previously under the impression that "overalls" and "graphic tees" fell under that category too, right? Wrong!

I knew there was something special about these two items that we haven't worn in years.

GRAPHIC TEES

When I first got wind that graphic tees were making a victory lap of sorts, I was taken back to the good ole' days to say the least. You mean, cheesy sayings and cartoons, galore? Luckily, that’s not the case this time around. Today's graphic tees come complete with punchy imagery or cheeky one-liners we just can't resist. They're that perfect twist to any outfit — whether you're dressing up or down!

How to style it: Going for a dressy-casual look.In my mind, a drapey pant of black and white paired with a red heel is the way to go. The loose fitting pants balanced the tied-up tee perfectly, which I would absolutely suggest to avoid looking like, you know... a tent. Top it off with statement jewelry: a chunky necklace with pearls, drop earrings and a layered bracelet. This bold look is perfect for girls’ night, or even a casual office setting!

OVERALLS

Put 'er there, sister: Truth be told, overalls have come a long way since the MK&A days. I haven’t worn overalls since I was a kid. Even then, I never had shortalls in the rotation. Better late than never right? Incredibly versatile for warm weather, they too can easily be dressed up or down with the right accessories! I’m also looking forward to styling these in fall. Some thick tights, booties, long sleeve top and chunky scarf? I’m ready for you!

How to style them: For a dressy day look (perfect for a brunch date!), pair your shortalls with a light, floral tee and strappy wedges. Bright lips and sweet, simple jewelry are all you need to complete your look. Patio in your future? Grab your favorite wide-brimmed topper! For night, just swap those florals for a slinky, dark blouse, and a pair of booties!
Will you put either of these trends to the test?
